Good Evening,
It is our pleasure to have Xander home after 96 days of hospitalization! We were met at home by a special surprise from the Class of 2022 - A big "welcome home" banner with each letter made by a class member. Xander thought it was very cool. We were also delivered a home cooked meal by our friend Jessica which allowed us freedom this evening. The meal was perfect and very delicious! Thank you all.
Inspired by the banner, this morning Xander decided to draw his own message
He got to spend time in the hammock in the backyard, enjoyed talking to our friends and neighbors this evening and fell asleep "with a smile on his face."
He is eating okay and his temperatures have been great. His spirits are up.
He will spend Thursday in clinic and have more follow-up tests for his pericardial effusion. As of last CBC, he was making his own hemoglobin and PLATELETS!! This is outstanding and proves that he is able to produce all 3 cell lines.
Getting discharged from the hospital made for an exciting day of events and activities. We got to say good-bye (for now) to many of the nurses that helped Xander along the way... and to 7E-14. We got everything cleaned out (2 car loads) and pulled down all of the beautiful decorations.
We will keep praying for Xander's MDS to be cured. There are many tests yet to go to find out how this will pan out for Xander; we pray for the best one day at a time, no matter what his outcome.
Today we basked in our family, enjoying each others company and taking it easy. A much needed break for all of us.
We will continue to keep you posted.
Peace and Love
